Pool & Spa Electrical Services

Water and electricity need to be handled right. I do pool pump wiring, spa connections, underwater lighting, and ensure everything meets the strict safety requirements for pool areas.

Pool Electrical Safety is Critical

Pool and spa electrical work has specific requirements under AS/NZS 3000. Equipment must be positioned correctly, bonding must be done properly, and RCDs are mandatory. This is not DIY territory - it needs to be done by a licensed electrician who understands pool zone requirements.

Pool & Spa Electrical Services

Pool Pump Wiring

Dedicated circuits for pool pumps with correct breaker sizing. Weatherproof enclosures and proper cable protection.

Spa & Hot Tub Connection

Hard-wired spa connections with isolator switches. Most spas need a dedicated circuit - I ensure correct sizing for the heater load.

Pool Lighting

Underwater LED lights and pool surrond lighting. Low voltage systems for safety, transformers positioned correctly.

Chlorinator Wiring

Salt chlorinators and chemical dosing systems. Proper power supply and weatherproofing for the controller.

Pool Equipment Shed

Power to your pump shed or pool equipment area. Multiple circuits if needed for pumps, chlorinators, and heating.

Equipotential Bonding

Required safety bonding around pool areas. This connects all metal components to prevent shock hazards.

RCD Protection

All pool circuits must have RCD protection. I check existing protection and upgrade where needed.

Pool Heating Electrical

Electrical connection for heat pumps or solar heating controllers. I handle the electrical side of your pool heating.

Understanding Pool Electrical Zones

The wiring rules define specific zones around pools where electrical equipment placement is restricted. This is about safety - keeping mains voltage away from water.

Zone 0

Inside the pool. Only SELV equipment (12V max) allowed. Underwater lights must be specifically rated.

Zone 1

Within 1.25m of pool edge. Limited equipment allowed. Must be IP rated for splashing.

Zone 2

1.25m to 2.5m from pool. More equipment allowed but still restrictions. GPOs must have RCD protection.

Common Pool Electrical Issues I Fix

Pool pump tripping the breaker - usually oversized cable or worn motor

Underwater lights not working - transformer issues or LED driver failure

Chlorinator error codes - often power supply or wiring faults

RCD tripping when pool equipment runs - moisture ingress or insulation breakdown

No power to pool shed - underground cable faults from garden work

Spa heater not heating - electrical supply issues or element failure

Pool Electrical Work Done Right

From new pool builds to fixing existing issues, I will make sure your pool electrics are safe and compliant.
